Starting in 1977, Leif was trained by his father, John C. (Jack) Erickson and uncle, Charles E. Erickson, in Seattle, Washington. In 1985, Leif moved to Vancouver to start his own Ocularist business.
As a NEBO certified Ocularist, Leif continues to upgrade his education at semi-yearly educational seminars. As well, all Erickson's staff keeps abreast of medical and technical advancements in the Ocularistry business.
Though his term as President of the ASO has concluded, Leif continues to work within the Society serving as Chairman of the Standards and Research Committee.
In his spare time, Leif is an active member of the North Shore Emergency Social Services, where he utilizes his skills as an amateur radio operator. He also enjoys playing saxophone in a local community band.
